This
classic and flavorful example of the wines of the northern region
of the Bordeaux vineyards is made by Jacques Rodet. His vines
are situated on the heights of the hills of the Côtes
de Bourg, only two miles from the Gironde river.
The wine is made from a classic Bordeaux blend of grapes, 48% Merlot, 26%
Cabernet Sauvignon 22% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec. In Jacque's own words
(translated from French), the Merlot brings roundness, flesh and alcohol,
the Cabernet Sauvignon brings framework and complexity and the Cabernet
Franc brings framework and finesse. Aging in oak barrels for 12 - 14 months
gives the wine an added dimension of flavor.
Overall, this classically styled Bordeaux wine can be appreciated
now with red meats, poultry, flavorful vegetarian dishes or
your favorites from the grill. The wine can also be kept for
five to ten years where it will improve even further.
