Marguet Père et Fils
Blanc de Noirs
Champagne
Grand Cru
A tour through the Champagne region of France reveals that Champagne is not only home to the famous houses known throughout the world, but to hundreds of small to medium-sized producers of quality Champagne that truly reflects the character of their particular locale and the style of the producer. Many of these producers are known as rècoltants-manipulants which means that they harvest their own grapes and produce their own Champagne. These are truly the Champagnes of the future as their relatively small production insures more reasonable prices and continuing product quality.

Champagne Marguet Père et Fils is a classic example of this type of producer. The property has been in the family for generations and producing quality Champagne since 1905. Benoit Marguet has recently taken the reins of the property, together with his father, and is producing high quality champagnes.

The Blanc de Noirs is produced from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier, which is aged for 2 years on its lees to amplify the fruit and structure and provide balance to the wine. This is the one champagne that Benoit Marguet has chosen to pass on the Grand Cru designation (all his other wines are Grand Cru) to give himself the flexibility to make the best champagne possible at the entry level of his champagne portfolio. This is full-bodied champagne with deep fruit flavors, refreshing acidity and a long finish.
