The Depeyre family in the town of Visan produces this Viognier
in the Southern Rhône river valley. Jean-Paul Depeyre
loves to grow and product wine from Viognier, even though
it is not a permitted grape variety in white Côtes du
Rhône wine, so he simply calls it country wine from
his local region, the Drome.
This wine is produced using whole grape cluster maceration before pressing
the grapes. The temperature is then lowered to 10ºC for 24 hours after
which the juice is transferred to older oak barrels for fermentation and ageing
for three months following before final filtration & bottling.
The wine has a brilliant golden color with a fine and complex nose of apricots
and violets with notes of grapefruit. The oak comes in with more mature notes
and a hint of liquorices.
Refreshing and easy to drink, this aromatic and floral wine is medium to full-bodied
that can accompany fish, white meats, and seafoods in sauce.
