The Champagnes of Michel Arnould & Fils are all 100% Grand Cru with the Pinot Noir coming from their vineyards in Verzenay on the famed “Montagne de Reims” and the Chardonnay from their vineyards in Cramant on the Grand Cru “Côte de Blanc”. The vineyards in Verzenay are considered among the best vineyards in the Champagne region as the northerly orientation of the vineyards benefits from the action of the cold on the yeast, which produces more and better-formed bubbles. This family owned business produces Champagnes that consistently win awards and earn high ratings in the French wine press.
The Extra Brut is made from 100% Pinot Noir, and all the Pinot Noir is produced in Verzenay. This is a new release for this property and features the power of the Pinot Noir Fruit from Verzenay and zero dosage, only the residual sugar present following fermentation. Coming from vines, average age of 34 years, growing on the clay limestone soils of Verzenay, this wine has a rich golden color and strong fine bubbles. The aromas are intense and already showing some mature notes, as the wine is made from reserves of only the best from a good vintage. The flavors are full and structured, with notes of dried and cooked fruit that shows balance and harmony, and a long finish. There is an incredible elegance for a champagne with such power and character. This is excellent Champagne for an aperitif or with appetizers or hors d’oeuvres, and will well accompany a meal with seafood or poultry, even in a rich sauce.
